We wrote Trying Times over two and a bit years, the majority at Real World Studios in the countryside. It's the most comfortable and confident i've ever been writing an album. There’s a lot of growth that led to that, and some real graft, but it’s mainly down to my collaborators; Dom, Jameela, Bob, Josh Smith, and Rob & Ben, my wonderful band. It’s also down to a lot of seasoned eggs, Peter Gabriel (indirectly) and the companionship of questionable amounts of sugar and caffeine. Sometimes I’d stay up as late as 2 or 3am. Rock and roll is not dead. I have never laughed more making an album, (or been laughed at more), and that is the highest praise I could have for my team. Artists say this a lot when they're coming up to an album release but I really can't wait to you to sit & listen in full. I will never forget the first time we all did.
