At the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Stevenson Savart has made history as Haiti’s first Olympic cross-country skier. Born in Port-au-Prince and adopted by a French family at age three, Savart discovered skiing in the mountains of eastern France — and turned a childhood dream into reality. Inspired by fellow Haitian Olympian Richardson Viano, Savart says competing at the Games is “magical.” Despite finishing well down the field, he hopes his journey sends a powerful message to Haitians: that even without vast resources, anything is possible. Savart says the overwhelming support from Haiti proves his achievement is about more than sport — it’s about hope and new horizons. #MilanoCortina2026 #wintervibe #olympics #haiti
