We had the honor of documenting the cityofportagemi’s Black History Month celebration — a gathering filled with music, movement, and powerful voices. Featured speaker candacytaylor, author of Overground Railroad, shared work that highlights the history of Black travelers in America and the legacy of The Green Book — a guide that helped Black Americans navigate a segregated nation. As we reflect this month, we also pause to remember Rev. Jesse Jackson, whose passing this week marks the loss of a lifelong civil rights leader. His work — and the work of so many others — continues to shape the story of this country.
