Wednesdays are always wild at DJDS, and we've done our best to take advantage of the spring-like weather by getting outside!
The past few weeks have been especially full of fresh air and miles on the trail for our Wilderness Trailblazer students, who have been making the most of this sunny winter.
High school students headed to Golden Gate Canyon State Park for a 5+ mile hike, reaching lookouts, trekking through patches of snow, practicing orienteering, and spending the kind of time together that only happens on the trail. Middle school students took their adventure to the Front Range outside Boulder, completing a nearly five-mile hike filled with rock scrambling, map reading, and plenty of laughter along the way.
And they’re not done yet — this week the group heads out for a multi-day overnight excursion outside Granby, continuing to build skills, confidence, and connection in the outdoors.
Learning looks a little different when the classroom has mountain views.
