Southern Miss linebacker transfer Chris Jones was one of the bigger acquisitions via the portal for the Florida State Seminoles this offseason. Jones started all 13 games for the Golden Eagles in 2025 with recording 134 tackles (9.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one interception and two pass breakups. The veteran is listed at 6’1” and 235 pounds and is a junior with two years of eligibility remaining. Jones is looking to be a leader in the Seminoles’ defense. He reminds me of former linebacker Tatum Bethune, who Florida State grabbed from UCF a few years back.
