Best. Trip. Ever.
Ok but for real… I think we’re finally finding our groove with this whole “adventure travel with a toddler” thing.
We spent five full days in Costa Rica a few weeks ago, just the three of us, and somehow managed to balance our adult priorities (surfing, yoga, a little quiet time) with the family adventures that end up meaning the most. Sandcastles, tide pools, pool time… you know the drill.
Our strategy:
-Take turns being back for nap time so the other person can sneak out for a yoga class.
-Bring one board to the beach and swap between surfing and playing with the kiddo.
-Plan family outings for the cooler parts of the day (early morning + late afternoon).
-And… get a babysitter for a few hours on a day or two
This was our first time EVER doing the babysitter thing and I was honestly intimidated, but it ended up being so lovely. Riley had a blast, the babysitter was amazing, and we got a little time just the two of us.
