Wayne Reese built a 41 year high school coaching career, primarily at Orleans Parish schools, compiling a 255-187 record. He coached at Carver, McDonogh 35, Booker T. Washington, and spent two seasons at Washington Marion in Lake Charles. Reese coached five players who reached the NFL, including Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, whom he coached at Carver. A New Orleans native, Reese was a standout running back at Xavier Prep in the mid 1960s and later played at Tennessee State and for the Los Angeles Rams before becoming a trusted and respected mentor to thousands. The Allstate #SugarBowl is proud to recognize New Orleans Sports Hall of Famers to commemorate #BlackHistoryMonth!
