ICE is looking at real estate around New Jersey and state officials are fuming.
The feds are now denying a report that ICE bought a massive warehouse on Route 46 in Roxbury amid protests and backlash from Gov. Mikie Sherrill and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, but they aren’t backing away from plans build more facilities in Jersey.
They’re already leasing another space in Roseland for about 40 lawyers.
The Roxbury council just adopted a resolution opposing any ICE projects in their backyard and protests have been held outside the warehouse ICE was looking at. After initially telling a news outlet they bought the warehouse, the feds backpedaled, telling
NJ.com they “have no new detention centers to announce in New Jersey at this time.”
