This Heritage Week, we're celebrating a powerful example of adaptive reuse in Toronto's Financial District and how interior designers can shape contemporary spaces by honouring the character, the craft, and the history. The design team at Arcadis transformed a 1917, historic 14-storey banking landmark into a contemporary co-working destination not by sidelining its history, but by placing it at the centre of the design. From the restored Banking Hall now reimagined as a hospitality-inspired social club to the careful preservation of original stone, marble, metalwork, decorative Art Deco detailing and plaster ceilings, every intervention respects the building's architectural integrity while supporting today's workplace needs.
