King Charles said he “learned with the deepest concern” of his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, adding “the law must take its course”.
Andrew has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and is currently in custody.
Neither the King nor Buckingham Palace were informed in advance of the arrest, the BBC understands.
Andrew has previously denied wrongdoing in relation to Epstein; he has not responded to the BBC’s requests for comment on any of the specific allegations in relation to the release of millions of Epstein files in January.
