Under the “Bandaid Bill” (SB 1329), mental health providers, including crisis hotlines, are now legally restricted from providing care or even follow-up support to minors without prior written parental consent. While “parental rights” sounds like a good thing, this bill ignores a dangerous reality: Not every home is a safe home. For a teen in a volatile household asking for a signature to speak to a counselor is a risk.
