#BLPGoodNews 🙌🏾 The Florida Senate has introduced Senate Bill 178, informally known as the Teddy Bridgewater Act, after former NFL quarterback #TeddyBridgewater was suspended from his voluntary coaching role at Miami Northwestern Senior High School for providing what were deemed impermissible benefits to players. The proposed bill would allow high school head coaches to spend up to fifteen thousand dollars of their own money per team each year on essentials such as meals, transportation, and recovery services, as long as the support is provided in good faith and properly reported. The funds could not be used for recruiting. Supporters say the legislation protects coaches who step up for student athletes who need help, while still maintaining oversight through the Florida High School Athletic Association. If passed and signed into law, the bill would take effect July 1.
