Hunter Hess generated headlines when the Winter Olympics were just beginning, and on Friday, he finally got to begin his competition. The United States skiing Olympian, who competes in the halfpipe event, put his fingers in an 'L' shape on his forehead after his qualifying run. That was a nod to the label given him by President Donald Trump. Hess had spoken at the start of these Games about what it meant to him to represent the United States. “If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it," Hess said then. "Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.” President Trump noticed and wrote this on Truth Social: “Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics.
