But in reality, while around 10% of the population is left-handed, only about 5% of PGA Tour players are. Left-handed golfers have only won 11 majors overall, and a left-hander has never won the U.S. Open. and in the women’s game, there is only one left hander on the LPGA Tour. So are lefties actually worse? The answer is no. Large-scale analysis of elite players shows no meaningful performance advantage — or disadvantage — to being left-handed.
