Amazing views from the space station are a shore thing 🐟⁣ NASA astronaut zenanaut took this picture of the Arabian Sea and India’s west coast while the ISS orbited 259 miles above. We can see the usual city lights, but there’s also something interesting in the water: A line of green light along the shore. What is that?⁣ Those are fishing boats, and they’re using green lights designed to attract squid, shrimp, sardines, and mackerel!⁣ When we study nighttime light – whether we use photographs of Earth from the space station like this one or data from satellites – we have an opportunity to learn about human behavior, natural disasters, and how the planet changes over time.
