February 22nd is National California Day! This day honors the Golden State, which became the 31st to join the Union on September 9, 1850. Considering Sacramento is the capital of California and the Sacramento History Museum is about a mile from the State Capitol, we could not pass this day up. For today, Jared letterpress printed a large halftone of a California Grizzly. This halftone is a reproduction of Charles Nahl’s drawing, “Grizzly Bear,” which he designed in 1854. This depiction of our state animal is used on our state flag.
