The US has deported a young, gay asylum seeker back to their home country, which has left them having to hide from their family - The Independent reports
They had sought out asylum in the US after fleeing “brutal family v!olence in Morocco” once their relationship was discovered. It’s illegal to be gay in Morocco and can lead to three years in prison.
They claim their family tracked them down and tried to k1ll them.
They attempted to request asylum at the US border, but faced deportation to Cameroon - where homosexuality is also illegal - before being sent back to Morocco.
Now back in their home country, they’ve spoken out saying: “It is hard to live and work with the fear of being tracked once again by my family. But there is nothing I can do. I have to work.”
