A new affordable housing development is coming to Cincinnati, thanks to Bengals center Ted Karras. Karras' organization, thecincyhat, will break ground on a housing development project on Thursday, Feb. 26, in Madisonville. According to a press release, the five-unit apartment building is designed specifically for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The independent living facility will consist of five units. There will be two 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments and three 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartments. Each residence will also have a full kitchen, in-unit laundry and private living spaces. The Foundation will not provide services as the housing is designed for adults with IDD to "live autonomously." However, residents can bring their own service providers. Karras has also invested $500,000 toward the project, which will allow rent to remain below market rate at $700–$900 per bedroom.
