Our comprehensive therapy program at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital offers various groups for learning and engaging in additional to typical 1:1 daily treatment sessions. Among these different groups is pet therapy, available to patients who are undergoing acute inpatient rehabilitation. This group is led by an occupational or physical therapist and is included in a portion of the 3 hour therapy day that a patient receives. Alongside the therapist, the group includes individuals from the volunteer association and their certified therapy dogs. Our current group includes our long time volunteer, Craig, and his 10-year-old spirited goldendoodle, Fiona. Pet therapy allows our therapists and patients to target a variety of functional skills including fine motor and gross motor coordination, balance, endurance and social engagement while providing comfort and happiness from our lovable fur-pups!
