We are supposed to learn from history, not try to hide it like this Administration is trying to do. streethymns 👇🏽 After praying to “god” and singing songs of worship and liberation all while invoking constitutional “rights”, many whites in Augusta Georgia took to the streets in 1970 to protest integration. For years black students nationwide were zoned away from nearby white schools and forced to walk long distances or ride buses across town to attend segregated, underfunded Black schools, even when a closer school sat just blocks from home. Many whites were outraged following federal desegregation orders after Brown v. Board of Education, officials introduced a “1 mile or less” rule. If a Black student lived within one mile of a previously all-white school, they could attend that closer school instead of being sent miles away. The backlash was immediate.
