When I heard this quote by djpierrephuture when I watched the “iwastheredoc” it gave me a deeper perspective of what it must have felt like as a Black artist and a Black creative to see your work be so loved across the globe but no proper accolade or ability to showcase it yourself back in the 80s. I was inspired to retell part of the story to help people understand that house music did not come from the UK. It came from Chicago and New York respectively. The London boom in 1988 paved way to the commercialization we see it today. House music’s roots are Black and queer.
