Replying to @Jafar Chahine Comments like this remind me that purity culture and misogyny are alive and well. When people ask me why I dare post myself wearing “provocative” outfits as a future doctor, it’s to show that women can be smart successful badass and beautiful in any career they choose and do not need to conform to a standard of purity or modesty (esp in their free time!) to be worthy of respect. We can BOTH be in touch with our femininity and sensuality in our personal lives while being professional in the workplace. For me, music, dance and fashion are all forms of self-expression and self-love that I value so deeply working in the world of rigidity and despair that is medicine. My outfit choices have never dictated my intelligence and the female body is not an object of inherently sexual nature for male consumption. #medbikini #womeninmedicine #womenphysicians #misogyny #purityculture #doctorsofinstagram #medicalschool #medstudent #feminism #premed #mcat
