“Scream 7” was supposed to continue #MelissaBarrera’s Sam Carpenter arc after “Scream” (2022) and “Scream VI” (2023). Instead, Barrera was fired over social posts about Gaza, #JennaOrtega exited, and director Christopher Landon stepped away. Now Kevin Williamson returns, this time directing, with Neve Campbell back in the mix. The result? A competently made slasher that never quite justifies why it exists beyond nostalgia.
