What it REALLY means to limit ultra-processed foods 👇🏼 Not all processed foods are created equal. In honor of my news segment with laura_simon.tv I’m sharing this post today. Humans have been processing food for thousands of years — drying, fermenting, salting, sourdough-ing, culturing. Those traditional methods often made food safer, easier to digest, and sometimes even more nutritious. Ultra-processed foods? That’s different. These are industrially engineered products made with refined oils, added sugars, flavor enhancers, gums, dyes, and preservatives — designed to be hyper-palatable and hard to stop eating. And as these foods became more dominant in the 80s and 90s, rates of obesity, metabolic dysfunction, and chronic disease climbed right alongside them. Here’s the takeaway:
