MIDN 1/C Kaemen Smith, a Political Science major from Erie, Pennsylvania, serves as the Captain of the Navy Wrestling team. Motivated by the leaders who came before him, Kaemen transitioned from competitor to mentor to give back to the program that first drew him to Annapolis. As the first future officer in a family with a proud history of enlisted service across the Air Force and Army, Kaemen views his commission as a way to honor his family’s legacy and do his part for the country he loves. A highlight of Kaemen’s time at the Academy was his Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) trip to Germany and Italy. Studying Security Cooperation in Europe, he toured the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and Naval Forces Europe Headquarters. This experience sparked a passion for global travel and a long-term interest in potentially serving as a Foreign Area Officer.
