On Saturday, March 29, 1997, Universal Studios Hollywood unleashed a Gak filled, slime-soaked explosion of 1990s kid culture with the grand opening of Totally Nickelodeon inside the Panasonic Theater. Marketed as a live interactive experience where kids were in control, Totally Nickelodeon brought the energy of the network’s biggest shows straight to the stage. From the moment guests entered the brightly repainted theater, it was clear this was not a typical theme park show. It was loud, colorful, competitive, and unapologetically messy.
