Tableland is a permissionless, serverless relational database network designed for web3 applications. According to its documentation, Tableland helps developers store and query structured data, such as information organized in rows and columns, using SQL (a widely used language for working with databases). Table creation and data updates rely on blockchain-based access control, meaning permissions are enforced through onchain accounts. Tables are created on supported blockchains and owned by those accounts, while read queries are handled offchain through the Tableland gateway, allowing applications to retrieve data without requiring a blockchain transaction. In April 2023, Tableland announced an $8M Series A funding round led by CoinFund, with participation from Multicoin Capital, Blueyard, and A Capital.
