In the past month, campus’s Black Student Union has issued statements on two anti-Black incidents at UC Berkeley, including a racial slur written at Clark Kerr Campus and a social media post depicting at least one UC Berkeley student in an “inappropriate” position in front of a blanket with George Floyd’s face. On Feb. 2, two UC Berkeley students found a racial slur graffitied on a Clark Kerr Building 1 map on their way to the dining hall, according to an Instagram statement by BSU. “This racial slur has been used to degrade and dehumanize Black people for centuries, and this incident demonstrates that racism is not in the past but is still an ongoing issue in the present day,” the statement said.
