“This is the new generation… this is what a reggae artiste coming out of Jamaica in 2026 can look like.” That was the bold statement from Grammy-nominated reggae singer Lila Iké during the @islandmusicconference panel Grammys and Your Career: Leveraging for Long-Term Growth. Iké reflected on attending every Grammy event the year she was nominated, intentionally showing up, networking, and proudly representing reggae in rooms where she knew no one. She admitted many were surprised. Internationally, reggae is often boxed into one image.
