Jamaican singer-songwriter @brownskinrae (born Rachell Marshall) shared powerful advice after the Breaking Through: The struggles of young Artistes panel at Day 3 of the @islandmusicconference. The reggae, pop, dancehall, hip-hop and soca artiste, and daughter of renowned drummer Cornell Marshall, spoke about the importance of young artistes understanding the business side of music. From knowing what “in perpetuity” means in a contract to understanding the workload of a manager, she encouraged breakthrough artistes to educate themselves so they can contribute to their own success and choose the right manager wisely. “Management starts with you... You have to understand the role of a good manager...” she said. #IslandMusicConference #BrownskinRae #MusicBusiness #JamaicaObserver #JamaicanMusic
