The National Civics Bee Application Portal Is Now Open! Everywhere we go, we seek out history and fun facts. We love teaching our kids about things old and new and try to make every vacation a learning opportunity. We also stress the importance of giving back to our community. Now that we have two middle schoolers, their interest has grown even more. They do so well in school because of this and LOVE social studies. For example, we’re in San Juan, Puerto Rico right now learning about their history. You may think it’s just a Caribbean Island full of beautiful beaches but it’s in fact full of history too! Starting with - it’s the oldest European-founded city in the Americas! Christopher Columbus landed in Puerto Rico in 1493 and it became a US territory in 1898 (after the Spanish-American War).
