USA Rugby’s decision to exclude trans women from rugby at all levels is discriminatory. The Washington Scandals stand in firm opposition and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion as a fundamental principle of rugby. Trans women are women and belong in women’s sports. Trans players will always be welcome in our club, without exception and without compromise. As a men’s+ club, it is our responsibility to listen to and follow the leadership of women’s+ clubs and the trans and non-binary athletes most directly impacted. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them. We will use our platform, our resources, and our voice to challenge this harmful decision and advocate for a game that reflects the values rugby claims to uphold. When we say “with you,” we mean everyone. Dividing us will not work. Inclusion is not a slogan for us. It is the reason we exist. #rugbyforall
