Dealing with Tight Hips & Muscular Imbalances? Read This.
Tight hips usually aren’t just “tight.”
They’re weak, undertrained, or overloaded in the wrong patterns.
Here’s how to fix it:
1️⃣ Add more single-leg movements — walking, running is single-leg, your training should reflect that. Great for muscular imbalances
2️⃣ Strengthen what feels tight before you obsess over stretching it.
3️⃣ Train all planes of motion — flexion, extension, rotation, abduction, adduction. Hips are 3D. Most of us train only 1 to 2 planes creating those imbalances.
4️⃣ Progressively overload your lifts — mobility without strength won’t stick. As the body adapts challenge it.
5️⃣ Don’t sleep on your adductors — they’re major stabilizers for your knees and hips and make up almost 20-30% of your upper leg. Grossly under trained in most.
Stronger hips = better mechanics, less compensation, more power.
