A senior official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said that Iran would ‘destroy’ any vessels trying to pass the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow channel between Iran and Oman which sits on one of the world’s most important shipping routes, especially for oil exports. Speaking to state television, General Sardar Ebrahim Jabbari said Iran would not allow ‘a drop’ of oil to be exported from the region via sea or pipelines.
