A look back at the Le Mans test circuit 🏁 In 2024, the #BMWArtCar 20 by Julie Mehretu made its race debut as a BMW M Hybrid V8 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, becoming the first BMW M Motorsport prototype to compete in the race since the BMW V12 LMR in 1999. It features a hybrid powertrain producing around 640 horsepower and an endurance setup built for the demands of a 24-hour race. Known for exploring space, movement, and layered energy, Mehretu approached the project by converting a two-dimensional composition into a three-dimensional form. The design originated from her painting "Everywhen" (2021-2023), with its palette and visual structure reinterpreted for the race car's surface.
