A rare 'blood moon' appeared in the night sky on March 3 during a total lunar eclipse, which won't be visible again until June 26, 2029. The Earth, moon and sun align to produce a total lunar eclipse, making the moon lose its usual white light - a reflection of the Sun's light on its dusty surface.
