#HumansOfUpstate Spotlight: Meet Alison Cortes! 💚 For senior biology major Alison Cortes, involvement isn’t just about staying busy - it’s about embodying the spirit of Upstate through connection, leadership and belonging. She is a student ambassador for Admissions where she helps to organize events and is the president of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), Alison has poured her heart into helping others feel welcomed and seen. “I love getting to show off campus,” Cortes said. “I spend lots of time here, so I love getting to show people things like my friends and where I go to study. It’s so rewarding getting to meet people and make them feel welcome.” As a Chancellor’s Ambassador, MedEx Ambassador, marketing intern for USC Upstate Athletics and active member of multiple honor societies, Alison has embraced every opportunity to serve.
