The actress who brought us #Elvira, Mistress of Darkness, #CassandraPeterson was one of our Logo30 honorees this year. She spoke to us about writing her memoir, 'Yours Cruelly, Elvira,' and sharing the news of her decadeslong queer relationship. "So I did always plan on letting people know about my relationship when I started writing the book. Even though it was a little scary and difficult for both of us, I am so glad I did it. It made such a huge difference. You just can't carry that stuff around and hide it forever without feeling really hypocritical and not feeling good about it. So it [coming out] was something that I'm really happy I did." She called sharing her story a "huge, huge relief." Ultimately, the past two years have been about living her life authentically. She said the whole point of Pride is, "Feeling proud, proud of yourself, proud of who you really are, your authentic self, and not changing for anyone being who you are." We couldn't agree more.
