tracelysette made history at the #VeniceFilmFestival this week. She received a nearly 12-minute standing ovation for her leading role in #AndreaPallaoro's #Monica. In the 90 years since its inception, Lysette is the first trans woman to headline a film in the festival's main competition. The storyline of the film focuses on a trans woman who returns home to care for her mother who doesn't recognize her. When asked about the project's reception, Lysette told LGBTQNation, "They stood and they clapped, I felt pretty chill for the first few minutes, and then I’d guess after [five] minutes or so I just felt all this emotion because I kept thinking, ‘aren’t we done here?’" Naturally, she began to cry, adding, "I tried to hold it in but I looked back at my friend #JohnnySibilly and he was in full-on tears. Other people were too. And that sent me.” Huge congrats to #TraceLysette for an honor well-deserved.
