The 29-year-old actor, who came out as trans last year, sported a green #ChristopherKane gown at the annual fashion extravaganza. Dorfman also wore jewelry and a sparkling tiara, all from the 19th century, in honor of this year’s Met Gala theme: Gilded Glamour. The #13ReasonsWhy alum dazzled in centuries-old jewels, but her most powerful statement was written on the green marbled purse she carried which was inscribed with the words: “Protect trans kids.” As mounting attacks on #trans youth blanket statehouses and school boards across the United States, Dorfman’s message on the red carpet provides a necessary reminder that we all must protect members of our #trans and gender non-conforming family.
