REPOST caughtla Heavy smoke pours from locked downtown garage as firefighters battle a large white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter caught fire inside a secured parking structure at The Orsini Apartments, 550 N Figueroa Street, adjacent to the Interstate 110 and U.S. Route 101 interchange around 1:50AM. Los Angeles Fire Department Central Engine 3 arrived to find heavy smoke showing from within the enclosed garage and access blocked by locked reinforced metal front and rear doors. Firefighters deployed forcible entry tools, including extraction equipment and a rotary saw, making repeated attempts to cut through the reinforced metal entry. After finally breaching the difficult door, crews gained access to the smoke-filled structure and extinguished the vehicle fire.
