The trigger for me choosing to walk with Christ was seminary.
I came to know the Church through my girlfriend because she talked to me about her faith. My mother felt a bit hesitant because of her past experiences. I also felt hesitant because of different customs and the general fear people have about joining any church.
I was at my girlfriend’s house, and her mother, a seminary teacher at the time, invited me to go to seminary. I said yes. During that very first seminary class, I was struggling a lot—I was having a hard time forgiving someone in my life. The lesson that day, from the New Testament, was all about forgiveness. I could clearly feel that the lesson was made just for me. And since then, I haven’t stopped going to seminary.
Over time, I grew closer to the Church, learned more about the gospel, and was able to change many characteristics of myself through the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through my example, my mom came to understand that my faith had changed me and that...
