“I Wanna Be Adored” by the Stone Roses was the first track on their debut album. Released as a single in the US in 1989, it was rumored to be the band’s response to fans who would criticize them for signing to a major label. “If you want to be adored, it’s like a sin," shared frontman Ian Brown in a 2009 Clash Magazine interview. "Like lust or gluttony or something like that.” The lyrics are made up of a repetition of only 15 words and yet manages to pack a lasting punch.
