Our patient Heather (be7hankful) is a #heartattack survivor and came back to visit her #UCSF care team and donate stuffed animals, toys and shirts to other hospitalized kids! Three years ago, Heather's heart stopped while she was at school. She survived after receiving CPR, four AED shocks and being airlifted to our Oakland hospital. Our team discovered damage in the lower portion of Heather's heart and transported her to our Mission Bay hospital, where she had heart surgery and received an implantable defibrillator to regulate her heart. Heather visited our hospital wearing her Miss #SanJoaquinCounty’s Teen sash, crown and dress after winning the title this year. During the visit, Dr. Karyn Austin surprised Heather with the news that makeawishamerica will help her achieve her wish to break the world record for training the most people in #CPR in a single day!
