US Representative Nancy Mace, who is a self-described “proud transphobe”, tried to steer Minnesota Governor Tim Walz into a debate about gender during a Wednesday (4 March) hearing in front of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee regarding fraud and misuse of federal funds in Minnesota. The Republican-led committee summoned Walz to discuss allegations of mass welfare fraud that have occurred in his state. During the beginning of her time, Mace asked Walz if he had learned anything from his experience testifying in front of the committee in January.
