Alhamdulillah, last year we met the Ahmed family from Gaza here in New York City…a beautiful family of 12 in urgent need of support. At the time, they were sleeping on mattresses in a cold, rodent-infested basement. Seven of their children are under the age of 6, and one family member was 9 months pregnant. After everything they had already survived - the bombing of their home, starvation, injuries, and the horror of mass graves near what was left of their neighborhood - no family should have had to endure those conditions 💔 By the mercy of Allah and through the generosity of this community, we were able to move them into their own apartment. But their story does not end there. Today, the Ahmed family is still living under immense instability and uncertainty. As refugee and immigration pathways grow more fragile, and as families like theirs face the fear of visas being revoked under Trump’s administration, they remain at serious risk of homelessness and displacement yet again.
