Boston Pizza Game Recap: Late Comeback Falls Short for Slough Sharks in Game 1 of Fishing Derby
The Lake Diefenbaker Slough Sharks battled back late but fell 4–3 in a shootout to the Wheat City Walleye in Game 1 of the Fishing Derby on Friday night. After trailing 3–1 in the third period, goals from Hyde Davidson and a late extra-attacker tally from Trae Johnson with just 32 seconds remaining forced overtime. The Slough Sharks generated strong chances in OT and killed off a penalty to push the game to a shootout, but Brady Turko scored the lone shootout goal to give the Walleye the win. Archer Cooke was strong in goal, stopping 34 of 37 shots in the loss. They’ll head to Brandon on Saturday, March 7 for Game 2 of the Fishing Derby and the final meeting of the season series.
