Palo Verde senior Dominic Rios is ready for the next chapter. The Yellowjackets catcher will continue his baseball career at Arizona Christian University, bringing his leadership and defensive presence behind the plate to the next level. Although he’s only been playing catcher for three years, Rios has embraced the responsibility that comes with the position. “Being a catcher is challenging in many ways,” Rios said. “You have to block balls in the dirt, make strong and accurate throws, and help call the game with the pitcher. You’re involved in every pitch and helping the team stay locked in.” For Rios, the position has always been about leadership. “One advantage is you get to see the whole field and be a leader out there.
