Every day on patrol brings something new—especially when training the next generation of deputies. Recently, a Temple Station training officer and his training deputy conducted a traffic stop for several equipment violations. During their investigation, they learned the vehicle’s sole occupant was on probation. A probation compliance check was conducted, which led to the discovery of a reported stolen gun inside the vehicle. The suspect, a convicted felon with prior weapons violations, was taken into custody without incident. Moments like this are valuable learning experiences for our training deputies. Under the guidance of experienced training officers, they learn how to conduct thorough investigations, follow the law, and safely take suspects into custody while protecting the community.
