Sometimes the best thing you can do is simplify. I came to this race solo, no squad, just me and the process.
Most of the time I’m thinking about everyone else — managing
l39ion.la, making sure the riders are set up, and solving problems. But this week reminded me that it’s just as important to take care of what “I” need as an athlete. Big races demand clarity. Routine. Focus.
Some teams had 10–12 riders. I showed up with a number on my back and a good opportunity to race into form; two crits and two road races.
Didn’t put much expectation on the outcome. Just trusted the work. Funny how cycling works sometimes.
On day 4 after a little GC chess throughout the week, the race came down to a sprint, and I managed to play my hand perfectly to dub up.
A good reminder that when you simplify the process and stay patient, things tend to fall into place.
Congratulations to pacebendweekend on a fantastic weekend, thank you to being_barrylee for the hospitality. On to the next one. 👊🤠
